Abstract

The objective of this community service activity is to utilize local resources including spices such as turmeric, ginger, Kaempferia galanga (aromatic ginger), Curcuma xanthorrhiza (javanese ginger), and garlic as traditional herbal medicine for livestock and to train breeders in making traditional herbal medicine to improve the health of local goats. This activity was attended by 20 participants from the Mawar Berduri Group in Sungai Pinang I village, Rantau Panjang subdistrict, Ogan Ilir Regency. The methods used were outreach educational, demonstration, and mentoring within the Mawar Berduri Group. The activity results show that, in general, the breeders were enthusiastic and actively engaged in participating, as evidenced by the group participants' ability to make traditional herbal medicine and apply it to their local goats. The conclusion is that the breeders have understood how to make traditional herbal medicine from herbs and spices and apply it as a medicine to prevent disease, thus ultimately improving the health of local goats.
