Pelatihan Pembuatan Silase Hijauan sebagai Pakan Alternatif pada Musim Kemarau di Desa Tegalsari, Kecamatan Gadingrejo, Kabupaten Pringsewu
Abstract
The availability of forage for livestock in rural areas is highly influenced by seasonal conditions, with abundant supply during the rainy season and drastic shortages during the dry season. This situation often reduces livestock productivity and increases maintenance costs. One potential solution is the application of feed preservation technology through anaerobic fermentation into silage. This Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted on June 28, 2025, in Tegalsari Village, Gadingrejo District, Pringsewu Regency, involving 25 participants from the “Kelompok Tani Utama” farmer group. The activities included lectures, demonstrations, hands-on silage making, and evaluations of participants’ knowledge and the quality of the produced silage. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills regarding silage technology, as indicated by higher post-training test scores and active participation during practice. The produced silage exhibited good physical characteristics, including a fresh acidic aroma, slightly sour and sweet taste, yellowish-green color, and dry yet soft texture. In conclusion, this training effectively enhanced farmers’ capacity to overcome forage shortages during the dry season through the adoption of silage technology.
